It's Just Not That Easy
A hard pill to swallow? Actually, hard Pill(s) to swallow because a woman who chooses the Abortion Pill (also known as a Medication Abortion) for an abortion will not take just one pill. Let’s take a look at the details of this abortion and why it is so popular now. Mifepristone was approved by the FDA in the year 2000 to be used for medical abortions. By 2020, more than half of the abortions in the United States were done by using the abortion pill.
Since The Roe vs Wade Reversal
The abortion pill is becoming more popular since the decision on June 24, 2022 to overturn Roe vs Wade which was originally decided in 1973. Women from the states that no longer provide and allow abortions now have the means to get an abortion easily from a neighboring state.
Why is this? The states that no longer allow abortions still have the government fighting for women’s rights to choose what they do for their “healthcare”. Clinics and organizations like Planned Parenthood provide ways that women can have an abortion anyway. They will go to any length, in fact, to make it not only possible; but easily available, yet still legal in a different state than their own. Recently a Planned Parenthood bus drove around to border cities and states so that women can cross state lines to get an abortion quickly then head back home.
In many states, all a woman needs is a telehealth appointment where the performing doctor is in a state where abortion is legal. She will go through questions, then is sent the pills through the mail. The only step that is avoided in this scenario though, is her ultrasound. Six states do not require an ultrasound to verify the gestational age of the baby. Restrictions on different aspects of a medical abortion vary from state to state.
Quick And Easy?
Unfortunately, too many people want a “quick fix.” They also want anything that seems easy to do. If they don’t think about what they are doing and only look at an abortion and taking pills from a clinical standpoint, it may seem this way. As a person who takes medication for other reasons, I wonder how many women investigate how their current medication will react with the abortion pills that they will take if they go this route.
But.... it isn't easy. Women must be educated and aware before taking these pills or any method of abortion. They should not allow others to fool them when they think that "all they have to do is... take a pill." Some clinics allow a woman to take these pills through 13 weeks of pregnancy while other clinics restrict the abortion pill to earlier in the pregnancy.
Another very unfortunate way that some women give themselves an abortion, basically a “modern back-alley abortion,” is by taking an abortion pill sent to them by a friend or family member. Who knows if it truly is the correct pill! It could be a false medication.
Here Are Some Specific Details:
2 ways to get an abortion- surgical (in-clinic abortion)or medical (the abortion pill) abortion finder
2 Pills used- Mifepristone (also known as Mifeprex, RU-486) and Misoprostol
2 options for using the abortion pill-
Mifepristone Blocks Progesterone(Mifeprex) with Misoprostol-Empties Uterus by bleeding and cramping (Misoprostol)
Misoprostol only
Option 1
The benefit of using option 1 is that after she takes the Mifepristone and has not taken the Misoprostol, she may be able to reverse her decision to abort.
This reversal has to be done within 24 hours of taking Mifepristone. Several women have had successful reversals as long as they have been done within 72 hours after the first pill is taken. The woman must have an ultrasound done to confirm the heart rate, the date of the pregnancy and the placement of the pregnancy. Then the doctor will prescribe a Progesterone pill to take vaginally, orally or by injection into the muscle. This treatment lasts throughout the first trimester of her pregnancy.
If a woman does not reverse her pregnancy, she must take the Misoprostol next, within 48 hours after taking Mifepristone
Option 2
Misoprostol only- causes the uterus to contract and expel the baby. Many other negative effects exist from taking Misoprostol only. This option requires a mother to take a total of 12 pills! 4 pills at a time, 3 times, every 3 hours! She may take these pills using different options each time, such as orally and sublingual for example. The side effects are much greater using the Misoprostol only method. The bleeding also may last for 4-6 weeks with this option.

4 options for how to take Misoprostol:
Orally by swallowing,
Sublingually (dissolve under the tongue),
Buccally (between the cheek and the gums)
Vaginally
How many pills does a woman actually take? Hint- it is MORE than one! A doctor decides with the Mifepristone, how many milligrams to give. Usually 600 mg. Then, she starts taking the Misoprostol. The woman starts with 4 pills and has to wait for at least 30 minutes. If these 4 do not work, she may have to take more pills. Bleeding is very normal, in fact heavy bleeding is very normal! She may pass blood clots and have great pain for which she can take over the counter pain relievers such as Tylenol. She may also experience great nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Also, she may even run a fever.
Taking the abortion pill to abort a baby normally requires 3 steps:
3 Steps
Step 1- Counseling, Ultrasound to find out how far along the mother is and a Waiting period. But again, keep in mind that doctors are now doing this via telehealth appointments with no ultrasound
Step 2- Get your medication
Step 3- Take the Misoprostol (up to 48 hrs after the first medication).
But What Are The Risks?
It is possible that a woman may have to have the rest of her abortion by surgery anyhow. She should call a doctor and go to a hospital if she has excessive bleeding, pain and high fever among other potential risks. Clotting and hemorrhaging are risks as well.
“Claimed” Benefits: I say “claimed” because I never believe that there is a benefit to an abortion! Abortion eliminates a human being’s life. That should not be considered a benefit! Regardless of how she or other people rationalize an abortion, it is still wrong to take a life, especially the life of our own flesh and blood, her very own child. There are other ways if a woman cannot handle raising her child, that she can receive help or give the baby to someone else in an adoption.
So, what do people claim are the benefits of the abortion pill over the abortion procedure?
A woman can do it at her own home or comfortable place of her choosing and with someone that she chooses to be with her. She might feel like it is more like a miscarriage instead of at a clinic having her baby suctioned out, thus killing her child. Taking the pills are not natural though. She is still killing her child using pills instead.
Just think about this...
Unfortunately, too many women are told, "just take the abortion pill, or a medication abortion." It is easy! Well, no it is not easy! Just swallowing pills does not make a person forget what they did! In fact, when they are having a terrible, painful time that is also very risky, they are not going to forget this! I have also heard, that a woman can also see their baby in the toilet, depending on how late in their pregnancy they have this medication abortion. This is not something you are likely to forget! On this link, is a story of a woman after she took her abortion pills.
I honestly can’t imagine going through this. From what I have heard from someone who had an abortion using the abortion pill, it is horrific. One woman said she did not heal inside of 1-2 days like she was told by an abortion facility. In fact, it took her several months to heal physically from the experience.
This memory can stay in a woman’s mind for the rest of her life. A certain percentage of women who do have any type of abortion, often have depression, anxiety and many women are also suicidal. Please, consider what you do to your baby and to yourself if you choose to take the abortion pill or any form of abortion.
Thanx for the sign in! I was going to comment before but did not have access.
Again, a great blog pointing out the dangers of the abortion pill. This is a sad time in America when it is easier to kill an unborn child than to destroy a turtle's home! I am for taking care of the wildlife like turtles, but just sayin' that laws protecting turtles are more stringent and better enforced than those protecting unborn children.
